Rapsodo MLM2PRO vs MLM2XPRO: Is the new one worth $350 more?

The XPRO is the new box at $899.99. The MLM2PRO is on sale at $549.99 as of Oct 20, 2026. Here is what the extra $350 actually buys.

Rapsodo

The Rapsodo MLM2XPRO launched on Oct 15, 2026, and it looks like a pricey upgrade over the MLM2PRO at first glance. Then the MLM2PRO went on sale at $549.99, and suddenly the gap is $350.

Here is the takeaway up front: the $350 does not buy you better data. Both units use the same Doppler radar and dual-camera system and measure the same 15 metrics. It buys you putting in simulation, a faster shot-to-show, a screen on the unit, and a better tripod. That is the whole decision.

Our take

For simulator players who putt inside Rapsodo's own courses, the XPRO is the only Rapsodo that does the job, and it is worth it. For range practice and third-party sims, the MLM2PRO at $549.99 gives you the same measurements for $350 less, and it is the smarter buy right now.

That verdict holds because the two units share the same measurement engine. Golf Simulator Videos, which tested the MLM2PRO's accuracy at length, says the XPRO data "should be the same," since the hardware that matters is carried over. Read their full breakdown at golfsimulatorvideos.com.

What changed

The honest list, verified from Rapsodo's Oct 15 availability announcement and early coverage:

  • Putting in simulation. This is the headline. For the first time on a Rapsodo monitor, you can finish the hole: putting is supported across 30,000+ Rapsodo simulator courses with a Core membership. Rapsodo says it has no plans to add putting to the MLM2PRO.
  • Instant shot-to-show processing. Your shot appears on screen about twice as fast as on the MLM2PRO, which matters when you are hitting ball after ball.
  • A small screen on the unit. It shows battery, connectivity, and the level and tilt of the unit during setup. No more guessing whether it is aligned.
  • An updated setup and alignment flow, plus an adjustable tripod with built-in tilt instead of the old fixed setup.
  • 12 RPT balls in the box instead of 3. RPT balls carry the markings the unit reads for measured spin, so the extras matter.
  • A new ecosystem: the Rapsodo Golf Mobile App and Rapsodo's first PC app, plus R-Cloud sync across devices. Studios, the paid 4K course platform, runs on the PC app.

The 4K angle deserves a note. Rapsodo Studios is the premium membership tier with detailed 4K courses, and it is where the XPRO's faster processing and putting support shine. Studios is a separate membership on top of the box.

What did not change

  • The measurement engine. Doppler radar plus dual cameras, 15 metrics, measured spin from RPT balls, slow-motion Impact Vision video. Same on both.
  • Third-party sim support. Both work with GSPro, E6 Apex, E6 Connect, and Awesome Golf. (GSPro itself is $250 a year and Windows only. See our GSPro software page.)
  • The yearly membership math. A Core membership for the XPRO and a Premium membership for the MLM2PRO are both $199.99 a year. Over time, the gap between the setups stays the hardware gap.
  • The MLM2PRO is still a current product. It was not discontinued, and the new Rapsodo Golf apps support it too.

The app trap

Here is the catch the launch announcements gloss over. The XPRO does not work with the old MLM2PRO app. It needs the new Rapsodo Golf app. The good news: the new apps also support the MLM2PRO, so a PRO owner who upgrades apps gets some of the ecosystem benefits without buying new hardware.

Free still exists. The Rapsodo Golf app has a free tier that covers 11 metrics with no membership. The paid tiers unlock all 15, courses, putting, and training tools like Bag Mapping and the Wedge Matrix.

The prices, as of Oct 20, 2026

  • Rapsodo MLM2XPRO: $899.99 at Rapsodo, PlayBetter, and PGA Tour Superstore. It has not moved since launch. Check the live price on our MLM2XPRO deal page.
  • Rapsodo MLM2PRO: $549.99 at PlayBetter, Shop Indoor Golf, Rain or Shine Golf, Rapsodo, and Global Golf. That is $150 off the $699.99 list price, and the lowest we have tracked. Check the live price on our MLM2PRO deal page.

One note on the gap: the $350 is the sale talking. At list price the gap is only $200. The MLM2PRO's sale is what makes this a real decision right now.

Who should buy the XPRO

Buy the XPRO if you play simulator rounds inside Rapsodo's ecosystem and want to putt on every hole. Buy it if you hit in high volume and want shots on screen instantly. Buy it if you want the newest setup experience and the Studios 4K courses.

Who should buy the MLM2PRO

Buy the MLM2PRO if you mainly practice at the range, if you play third-party sims like GSPro or E6, or if $350 matters more than putting and speed. You get the same 15 metrics, the same cameras, the same radar. At $549.99, it is the value pick of the two.

Bottom line

Rapsodo priced the XPRO's real upgrades at $350 over the sale-priced PRO, or $200 over list. If putting and speed are worth that to you, the XPRO is an easy yes. If they are not, the MLM2PRO is not last year's model to avoid. It is the same measurement engine, on sale, with no putting and no apologies.
