How we track golf simulator prices

My Golf Obsession compares prices on launch monitors, enclosures, projectors, hitting mats and simulator packages across trusted golf retailers. Here's where our numbers come from and how we turn them into the insights on each product page.

Where the prices come from

We follow each product at trusted golf retailers and record every change to its best price, along with the stores selling at that price. The best price is the lowest among the retailers we list for the product, for a new unit.

How price history works

Each product page charts its best price for every day, going back up to a year. A day's price is the best price in place that day, so the chart shows how long a price lasted, not just when it changed.

How the price insights are worked out

Once a product has 30 days of history, its page sums it up in words and a table:

  • Lowest price we've tracked: the lowest daily best price in the product's history, and the last day it was at that price.
  • Typical price: the median daily best price, so half the days were cheaper and half dearer.
  • Price drops: each day the best price fell from the day before.
  • Cheapest store: the store with the lowest price on the most days, shown once we've recorded the cheapest store for 30 days.
  • Price by month: the lowest and average daily best price in each calendar month.

How we rank deals

We rank deals by how far each price sits below the product's 90-day average, so a “40% off” list price that never changes won't rise to the top.

Who writes “Our take”

The My Golf Obsession team writes the “Our take”, comparisons and questions on product pages, from each product's specs, its price history and what golfers ask about it.

How we make money

We don't sell anything. We send you straight to the retailer to buy, and we may earn a small commission, which never affects which deals we show or how they rank.
