Buying guide
01
A short-throw projector creates a big image from close range, so it can mount above your hitting area without casting your shadow on the screen.
02
Aim for around 3,000 lumens or more if your room has windows or lights on while you play. Darker rooms can get away with less.
03
1080p is a good minimum and 4K looks sharper up close. Match the projector's aspect ratio (4:3, 16:10 or 16:9) to your screen so none of the image is wasted.
Most home simulators work best with a short-throw projector, roughly 0.5:1 to 1:1, which fills a 10-foot-wide screen from about 5 to 10 feet away. Check the projector's throw calculator against your room before you buy.
No. A 1080p projector looks good on most simulator screens. 4K is sharper when you stand close to a large screen, but brightness and throw ratio matter more for a good picture.
