Set inside a 125-hectare private nature reserve in southern Cali, Club Campestre de Cali pairs an 18-hole, par-71 championship course with a full resort-style private club. Its Howard Watson-designed layout plays 6,929 yards from the blue markers and is the only course in Colombia with Bermuda TifEagle greens, a surface that has carried it through Colombian Opens, PGA Tour Latinoamérica events, and the Bolivarian Games. Beyond golf, members enjoy seven restaurants, a 20-room hotel, 31 clay tennis courts, squash, polo, pools, and riding — all within a protected reserve of lakes, streams, and native forest minutes from Unicentro.

4 PROS
Colombia's only TifEagle greens. The course is the only 18-hole layout in the country built with Bermuda TifEagle greens, a warm-season surface found on top Florida and Caribbean courses — expect fast, true-rolling putts.
A proven championship venue. The club has hosted the Colombian Open many times, the PGA Tour Latinoamérica Colombia Classic (first played here in 2012), the Copa Los Andes, Bolivarian Games golf, and the Juegos Nacionales.
A 125-hectare private nature reserve. Declared a private civil-society natural reserve in 2015, the grounds hold hundreds of species, 12 lakes fed by the Río Meléndez, and an ecological trail — the round feels like a walk through protected forest, not a city park.
A complete club beyond golf. Seven restaurants, a 20-room hotel plus villas, 31 clay tennis courts, squash, polo, horseback riding, pools, and a gym make it a full-day (or full-weekend) destination for members and their families.
3 CONS
Private — no public tee sheet. The club is members-and-guests only, with no formal visitor program and no published green fee; outside golfers need an invitation or an operator-arranged round that is never guaranteed.
Altitude and heat change the math. At ~1,000 m the ball flies noticeably farther (roughly 5–8% at this altitude band), and Cali's heat and humidity punish a long, slow round — club down, hydrate, and book early.
Short on paper, strategic in practice. At 6,929 yards from the blue markers it is not a brute-force course; the Watson design, 12 lakes, and connected streams demand placement over power, and the par-5 8th (stroke index 1) is the hardest hole on the card.
5 FACTS
Founded 27 October 1930. Californian Thomas Fagan, then manager of National City Bank in Cali, bought the Casa San Joaquín from the Posso family with a group of friends and founded the club.
The course is a 1956 Howard Watson design. Watson, of the Canadian firm Canadian Golf Landscaping Ltd., designed the current 18-hole course in 1956 (one press release instead credits "Thompson & Thompson," also in 1956 — unresolved).
The grounds are a protected reserve. In 2015, Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia declared the club's 125 hectares a private civil-society natural reserve.
Twelve lakes, one river. The course's 12 lakes are filled with water diverted from the Río Meléndez, which begins its valley journey nearby, and are linked by streams running through the property.
A tournament institution. The club hosted the PGA Tour Latinoamérica Colombia Classic (first staged here in 2012), the Copa Los Andes, Bolivarian Games golf, and the Juegos Nacionales, plus its own emblematic Torneo Aniversario each October.
GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR ROUND
01
Caddies are available, and the strategic Watson routing — with 12 lakes and streams woven through the property — rewards local knowledge on lines, carries, and green reads.
02
Fedegolf tournament practice: low-index men and pros play Blue (6,929 yd, 74.3/140); men at 5.0+ play White (6,394 yd); men 65+ play Yellow (5,783 yd); women play Red (5,743 yd).
03
At ~1,000 m the ball carries several percent farther than at sea level — expect roughly one club less into greens and re-check distances on the long par-5s (2nd at 560 yd, 8th at 599 yd from Blue).
04
As a private club with no walk-up play, arrange any guest round well ahead through a member or a golf-tour operator, and ask the club to confirm — access is never guaranteed at booking time.
